Cocoa liquor is obtained by grinding and pressing sound, ripe, previously-cleaned, unshelled, roasted, organic non-GMO cocoa beans. It is pressed and formed into round, thin, easy-to-melt drops.

Organic Cocoa Liquor may also be known as Organic Cocoa Paste or Organic Unsweetened Chocolate.

Starting in the early 1980s, the company from which we source these cocoa liquor drops began developing an Equal Partner Direct Buying program to secure a reliable supply of high quality fermented beans by respecting the rights of farmers to a fair price and an independent livelihood.

They were the first commercial customer for fermented cocoa beans from CONACADO, the Dominican farmers cooperative that is now one of the world’s most important sources for premium organic cocoa.

Beyond the Dominican Republic, the family has strong Equal Partner relationships in key cocoa-sourcing origins such as Ecuador, Peru, and Africa.

Due to traceability procedures implemented along their supply chain, they are able to confirm that the chocolates we offer do not contain any cocoa beans from the Ivory Coast.
