HOW Cooking School

This is Gracie Schatz and she runs the Heart of the Willamette (HOW) Cooking School, a community cooking school that currently offers virtual cooking classes for all skill levels. Every month she puts together six public cooking classes to inform and inspire. These classes have a sliding scale ($0-$35) fee structure so that anyone can access them. Here are her classes scheduled for December.

HOW's December Class Schedule

Latkes and Spiked Cider —Tuesday, December 8th
To amp up for Channukah, let’s make some latkes and drink some spiked cider! Homemade applesauce is on the menu, but this is intended to be an easy and fun class for all of you latke lovers out there!

Citrus Season! —Wednesday, December 16th
Let’s celebrate the fruit of winter with three delightful dishes! Citrus Salad with Shaved Fennel, Olives and Chili, Citrus Braised Chicken with White Wine and Shallots, Citrus Curd Tart with Rosemary Shortbread Crust

Free Pie Crust Demo —Saturday, December 19th
I am participating in the Whiteaker Holiday Market this year! It is an incredible place to find locally made gifts for the holidays. I will be teaching a free pie crust demo for them, email me for the link!

Paella at Home! —Tuesday, December 22nd
I’ve honed in on this epic, saffron infused Spanish seafood showcase. We’ll top it with Saffron Lemon Aioli. I mean, come on!

Isaiah’s Vegan Carribean Food Class! —Sunday, December 27th
My dear friend Isaiah is trying to raise money to start a Carribean Food Cart here in Eugene. To help him reach his goal, I am hosting two classes with him! He is one of the most talented chefs I know and I believe in him and his food with all of my heart. To register for this class, donate as much as you can to his Kickstarter and send me a screenshot of your donation. Space is limited!
Carribean Squash Curry, Bara - Turmeric Fried Bread, Mango Sour

Isaiah’s Fried Chicken Class! —Sunday, January 3rd
Isaiah’s Fried Chicken is fried in a cast iron pan and infused with spiced paste. It is legendary, tender, crispy and unique. To register for this class, donate as much as you can to his Kickstarter and send me a screenshot of your donation. Space is limited!
