Our Brown Teff is grown in Junction City, Oregon on Huntons' Farm, a third-generation family farm that is one of the first traditional grass seed farms in Willamette Valley to transition acreage to grains and beans.
Teff is a tiny gluten-free whole grain packed with nutrients. It has been grown as a staple food in Ethiopia for thousands of years.
A nutritional powerhouse, Teff is low in fat, high in fiber, and full of protein, calcium, copper and iron. Teff also has high levels of phosphorous, thiamine, and all of the essential amino acids in easily absorbed forms.
According to Ayurveda, teff is a “sattva” food, meaning it calms and focuses the mind, and “tridosha”, meaning it is good for all body types.
Teff grain makes an excellent hot cereal (no need for soaking) or delicious dish combined with veggies. It can also be added to bread or cookie recipes.
